BIOGRAPHY

John Robért was born neat Johannesburg in 1933. At a early age he joined the South Tourism Corporation (SATOUR)

This afforded him the opportunity to travel widely and live in many international cities. During this period of some 20 years, John represented  SATOUR in Australia, the European continent and Great Britain, where he made full use of the opportunity to visit famous art galleries and also to attend exhibitions by prominent international artists.

John had a life long interest in painting  "Ala Prima" style in oils.

Although self taught, he followed his interest with great enthusiasm

to this day.

John moved to Cape Town in 1978 to start the Cape Tourism Authority (CAPTOUR) where he held the positions of Managing Director and  Director of Publicity for Cape Town until his retirement in 1992.

John  regularly  exhibited in local exhibitions as a member of the South African Association of Artists.

He also exhibited in Germany and Paris where he took up residence at  the Cité Internationale Des Arts.

John paints portraits on commission and he developed a reputation for his lighting quick caricatures of which there must be thousands around the globe.
